Ortho-K cannot completely restore clear vision after just one night of use. Instead, patients will gradually notice positive changes in their vision.
First day
After the first night of wearing Ortho-K lenses, patients may experience significantly improved vision but not yet fully sharp. It’s essential to persist in wearing them and follow up with regular appointments with an optometrist to assess compatibility and make necessary adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness.
After one week
For some patients, vision may already be restored to sharpness at this point. Additionally, patients may notice halos around lights, especially in low-light conditions. This is normal and will typically disappear within a few days to a few weeks.
After one month
Most patients can achieve clear daytime vision after one month of using Ortho-K lenses. To ensure long-term stability and effectiveness, it’s important to adhere to regular follow-up appointments every 1-3 months with an optometrist.
Depending on the degree of refractive error and the level of adjustment of the lenses, patients can expect their vision to improve as follows:
- For low myopia (under -2.00D), clear vision can be achieved after 3-4 days of use.
- For mild to moderate myopia (-2.00 to -4.00D), clear vision can be achieved after 1 -2 weeks of use.
- For moderate to high myopia (-4.00 to -6.00D), clear vision can be achieved after 2-6 weeks of use.
- For high myopia (over -6.00D), clear vision can be achieved after 3-8 weeks of use.
Guidelines for Usage
To achieve the desired effectiveness, patients need to adhere to several rules during the usage process:
- Visit an optometrist and purchase Ortho-K lenses as prescribed. Do not buy Ortho-K lenses of unknown origin or quality on the market without proper guidance.
- Follow the instructions for usage (wearing and removing lenses) as directed by the optometrist.
- Store the lenses properly to prevent breakage, reduce the risk of infection, and extend their lifespan.
- Adhere to the regular follow-up schedule with the optometrist: 1 week – 1 month – 3 months. Contact the optometrist immediately if experiencing any unusual symptoms for timely assistance.
Following these guidelines will ensure a safe and effective Ortho-K lens experience, while also maintaining optimal eye health.
